Sky tv charges to rise in September

The television giant will boost costs for some customers by ‘up to 10pc’ in September

Sky television customers encounter price increases of up to 10pc in September, the company has confirmed.

A statement on the Tv giant’s internet site reads: “Sky Tv rates will boost on 1 September. In accordance with our standard terms, your Sky Tv bundle might rise by up to 10pc in a minimum contract phrase.”

Sources said the rises are probably to be nearer the two.5pc improve imposed last September. A spokesman for Sky explained the rises will not apply to all subscribers. Letters will be posted in July detailing the planned subscription increases to clients impacted.

“We operate tough to keep any rises to a minimum, making certain we carry on to offer you our clients fantastic value,” the spokesman stated. “We will be writing to consumers in July outlining any modifications.”

Sky clients still report issues cancelling contracts. The firm is in the method of amending its terms and problems to tell consumers they can cancel their contracts only by telephone. The alterations have been drafted following a deluge of complaints to The Agenciesabout difficulties in leaving the provider at the end of subscription.
